Greetings from Catamarca, Argentina

Hello everyone!

 I’m so glad to post here today! I’m Sebastian Mercado, a teacher from Catamarca in the north of Argentina.

I would like to take part on this project with my students from a  Pre to Intermediate level. They are between 15 and 18 and they are nice people to work with. We are having classes every Tuesday and Wednesday at 18.00 GMT -3.Our Laboratorio de Idiomas “Nora de Luque” has a comfortable room with a computer, a projector and internet connexion.

I hope we have a good time, learn and enjoy this project and experience as well.

Hi everybody… from Pereira, Colombia

A warm greeting from Pereira, Colombia. I´m Guillermo López, EFL teacher at INEM Felipe Perez school. It´s great to be part of a project like this. You wouldn´t believe how much this post has cost to me. Not talking of money, but time and effort. Maybe some day Larry Ferlazzo will tell you. I still laugh about the ¨tech¨problem I had. By the way, thanks a lot for your support and patience, Larry, two  qualities for a teacher.

My students are now working on the project. They will present a real (at the classroom) and a virtual (online) exposition of the western region of our country, Colombia. They are both enthusiastic and scared. I hope everything will be ok. I have two 9 grades, with EFL beginner students from 14 to 16 years old.

Hi from Norway

I’m going to jump right in and take the opportunity to introduce myself properly. My name is Lisa and I am an English teacher at a small high school in Sauda, Norway. I am really looking forward to working with all of you, and hopefully our students will benefit from this project.

I have about 40 students who will be participating here, and I have already mentioned (briefly) to them that they might be given the opportunity to talk and collaborate with English learners from all over the world. They liked the idea and are eager to get started. Most of my students are 16-17 years old, and are at an intermediate level of English.

Looking forward to working with all of you.

Introductions

I suggest that we begin by each of us writing in the comment section of this post a short introduction telling about ourselves and what our hopes are for this collaboration.

I believe that once you leave a comment on a post here (which can be done without actually signing-in to Edublogs), you are then automatically signed-up to receive, via email, additional comments that are left by others.  Check-back here, though, just to make sure I’m correct (which I may very well not be).  I think I’ve also put an RSS feed on the sidebar for comments that you can sign up for.

Assuming it’s okay with everybody else, in a couple of days I’ll prepare two more short posts.  One will summarize what people have shared with me as potential projects we can do together.  The other would share some thoughts on potential networks that we can use to facilitate communication between our students (like Edublogs,  Ning, Mixxt, etc.) to complete those projects.

This may very well be an artifical distinction, but I thought it would be helpful.

In each of those posts, I’d suggest we communicate through the comments thread.

I am by no means technologically proficient, so please bear with me and make suggestions on how we can better move along in this process.

Once people register in Edublogs, I’ll sign you in here so anyone can write posts.
