Teachers and students from a variety of countries around the world are taking part in a sister classes’ project. This was started in 2008 with a group from Kuwait, the U.S.A., Romania, Hungary, Argentina, Venezuela and Brazil. Since then, it has expanded to include people from other countries, e.g. Spain, Mexico and Russia.
Students are able to display their work online in the Student showcase blog. Short movies, paragraphs, voice threads, flowgrams and more are displayed there. Then anyone can post comments on their work and/or take part in student forums.
The project aims to develop the students’ knowledge of other countries and cultures, and their writing and computing skills. Teachers taking part in the project also develop their computing skills. It is an interesting way to show everyone we are all part of the global village.

This is our student blog. You can subscribe using an RSS reader for the posts here If you don’t use an RSS feeder, you can subscribe to the posts by email, but have to go to the blog to do it. You’ll see info on the right side. However, you can’t subscribe to the Student Forum comments, so I would suggest that once a class has left comments there, teachers let the rest of us know. This is our teacher’s blog. You can subscribe using an RSS reader for the posts here. |

Hi, you all!
This is Pau from Spain. Just a couple of things.
In SHOWCASE: I can only see one post from Kuwait by Ahmed. Is it so? Is there only one?
And I can’t see the presentations from Mexico. Do I have to do something special?
Somthing else, we posted in the FORUM because we thought it was there where we were expected to introduce ourselves. Perhaps we should have started by doing it in the SHOWCASE adding some nice photographs…..
By the way,Larry,my students are answering the questions your students posed. I hope they will be on the cyberspace this week. And some Urban Tribes presentations which I’ll upload in the SHOWCASE if that’s ok. We will be adding some photos to our Introductions as well but I can’t say when!!!
Love from beautiful Tarragona, in Spain!
PAU

A warm greeting from Pereira, Colombia. I´m Guillermo López, EFL teacher at INEM Felipe Perez school. It´s great to be part of a project like this. You wouldn´t believe how much this post has cost to me. Not talking of money, but time and effort. Maybe some day Larry Ferlazzo will tell you. I still laugh about the ¨tech¨problem I had. By the way, thanks a lot for your support and patience, Larry, two qualities for a teacher.
My students are now working on the project. They will present a real (at the classroom) and a virtual (online) exposition of the western region of our country, Colombia. They are both enthusiastic and scared. I hope everything will be ok. I have two 9 grades, with EFL beginner students from 14 to 16 years old.
Hope to see your posts over here soon,
Guillermo

Hi everyone !
I am an EFL teacher and I teach in Escola Secundaria de Benavente, in a quiet, small town in Ribatejo. I’ll be having a class of teenagers who are pre-intermediate to intermediate. Some of them are quite good. The challenge will be motivating them to participate in this exchange and get a computer room at school. I ‘ll be starting lessons in about a week and that’s when I’ll be presenting them this project. Hope to learn a lot from you !

HI!
I’m not sure this is the place I am supposed to write or if I need to add it to any category… but I just wanted to try it and to say hello to you all. So, Pau from beautiful Tarragona in Spain greets you and hopes to encourage students to participate in your project.
Loads of love!

Hello everybody,
we’ve finally finished our voicethread and we’ve uploaded it on the students showcase. It’s been more difficult than I would have predicted when we started but personally I’m quite pleased with the final result.
On a different note, I’d like to tell you that I’ll be away for 5 days and I don’t think I’ll access our blog. Please leave comments to the voicethread, we’d love to see your reactions.
Thanks a lot,
Mona

Hello guys!
I have already started working on our introduction to Brazil with my students in Voicethread. It will probably be ready by Monday (March 3) because students only need to record their scripts now.
The thing is, when I finished uploading the images to our thread, and started to work on the settings, I came to the tagging part, and then I thought that we could standardize some tag(s) to everything produced in this project, in order to make it easy to be found and linked to. What do you think?
I have tagged my voicethread “sisterclasses” and “studentshowcase”, but I’m not sure if those are the best options.
I look forward to your opinion on this matter.
Kind regards from Brazil,
Ronaldo
